Why Make This Site?

In my senior year of college I read "The schools we need and why we don't have them" by E.D. Hirsch and it has haunted me since. Not because it opened my eyes to anything I didn't know was true but because it was a vivid analysis of a dysfunctional educational infrastructure, collapsing in on everything but the parasitic special interests which depend on it.

Years later, public education (along with American health care) remains an embarrassing national institution. But there is hope and there is change. That is what this web site is about.
