South Carolina Lt. Governor Stirs Controversy by Equating Poor Families to Stray Animals
Despite the obvious controversial nature of his comments, the sadder part of this is that if what he says is true about the lower performance of low-income students in South Carolina that no one has bothered to do anything about it.
Why? Because the expectation matches the observed reality. I would bet $1000 that most of the students receiving free and reduced lunch in South Carolina are black and because of this they are not expected to succeed anyway.
It's sad and pathetic that the Lt. Governor's experience with his own state are what fully inform his world view on what is possible with student performance.
