North Carolina Plans to "Intercede" in Halifax County "Academic Genocide"

Trying to avoid the business end of Superior Court Judge Howard Manning's gavel in a hearing scheduled for April 29, 2009, Governor Perdue and State education officials have released a plan to, at the least, prop up the Halifax County school system, whose students perform well below state averages. With only 26% of students in grades three though eight reading at grade level, the 4,000 kids in these 14 schools have clearly been lost in the shuffle.
